Our studio participates in a variety of performances events throughout the course of the year. Students of all ages and ability levels have the opportunity to participate in formal recitals and festivals, as well as fun, informal community performances. There’s an event on this list for everyone! Our studio participates in events sponsored by the Kansas City Music Teachers Association (KCMTA), the Olathe Music Teachers Association (OMTA) and the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC).
OMTA Halloween Recital
Our studio will partner with another studio from the Olathe area to present an informal recital of autumn and Halloween-themed music at a local nursing home. Students are encouraged to come in costume. A great opportunity for beginning and elementary students!

Master Lessons
At several times during the year, intermediate and advanced students have the opportunity to take a lesson with a Master Teacher (typically a concert artist or collegiate-level instructor). Master Lessons provide students with a wonderful opportunity to receive outside feedback on repertoire and technique.

Christmas Recording Project
Students will work through late fall and winter to learn several Christmas selections, and freshen up other favorite repertoire from the year. During the fall semester, we’ll record songs to create a CD gift students can share! Students receive one complimentary CD, and are given the opportunity to purchase additional copies to give as gifts.

KCMTA Multi-Piano Concert
This exciting ensemble event features duet teams performing simultaneously on a stage full of 16 grand pianos, under the direction of a professional conductor. Students are paired with a duet partner from within our studio, then join with other students from across the Kansas City area for the concerts. Two rehearsals are required prior to this concert.

OMTA Solo Festival
Students prepare one solo selection to be performed for a judge. Each student receives a written critique and award. Students also showcase their knowledge of theory through a written theory program. This is an excellent opportunity for students to receive outside feedback on their skills in a positive festival environment.

Solo Contest
Clarinet students prepare one solo selection to be performed at the District Festival. Students perform for a judge and receive critiques and a rating. High school students are eligible to progress to the Regional and State level festivals.

Studio Spring Recital & Awards Ceremony
